Alumna Sarah Layne returns as Bioengineering Grad Programs Coordinator and Academic Advisor

Alumna Sarah Layne joins the department of bioengineering from her most recent role as an International Student Advisor at San Jose State University in San Jose, California where she and her team served a community of 3,000 + constituents.  Advising international students majoring in STEM fields on federal and university policies and regulations were some of her many duties.

Bringing over 5 years’ experience in student and academic affairs, Sarah believes assisting students with their academic and extracurricular interests towards their degree completion is a direct line to positively affecting the personal and professional growth of students.  She greatly values and believes in Illinois’s ability to provide a high-quality and immersive experience for students.

Sarah earned her Master of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in May 2016.   During her time here, she served as a Fraternity & Sorority Affairs Graduate Assistant, coordinating leadership and wellness initiatives and various programs and events.
