The Yang laboratories within the Department of Bioengineering and Carle Foundation Hospital are focused on investigating neural mechanisms underlying movement impairments post-stroke and developing targeted therapeutical interventions to facilitate motor recovery. This interdisciplinary research integrates neural engineering approaches and human subject experiments, based on multi-modal brain imaging, non-invasive brain stimulation, electrophysiology signals, robotic devices, and data sciences.

We seek applicants who can contribute to the excellence of our programs through research, teaching, and service. The department has recently launched the nation’s first B.S. degree program in neural engineering. This new program leverages campus strengths across diverse topics from bioengineering, neuroscience, data analytics, and imaging.
