Professor Jenny Amos
Bioengineering’s Jenny Amos is the featured guest on episode six of a new Grainger College of Engineering podcast, SIIP and Share. This new podcast is set to transform how engineering education is discussed and shared, bringing fresh insights from instructors in The Grainger College of Engineering. In this week’s episode entitled, “Running Toward Innovation: Dr. Jenny Amos on Teaching, Mentorship, and Half-Marathons”, Dr. Amos discusses her own SIIP project and her role mentoring faculty on SIIP teams, as well as her passion for running, with host, professor Holly Golecki. The SIIP and Share Podcast is made possible through support from the Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education Strategic Instructional Innovations Program (SIIP).
The podcast features faculty from across the college, highlighting groundbreaking instructional strategies, cutting-edge teaching technologies, and novel pedagogical approaches that are shaping the future of engineering education. Each episode delves into a SIIP-funded project such as group dynamics, collaborative international courses, and the integration of interactive reference guides in the classroom.
Listeners can expect engaging discussions with experts who are redefining how engineering concepts are taught and learned. The series will provide valuable perspectives for educators looking to implement similar innovations in their own classrooms. Students can learn about the course design in The Grainger College of Engineering and hear a bit about their professors’ passions and hobbies too.

Bioengineering senior Lucy Cinnamon, a member of the SIIP and Share team, said “as an undergraduate student, I have loved working on the SIIP and Share Podcast project because I was able to learn more about the time and effort teaching faculty put into improving the learning experience of students,” said Lucy. “The SIIP program has a plethora of projects that aim to enhance the quality of engineering education that students are getting that I had no idea about. Learning about these has been a unique insight into how much goes on behind the scenes that us students do not know about.”
The SIIP and Share Podcast team includes faculty member Holly Golecki and M.Eng student Yvonne Chiamaka Ilozuluike (Bioengineering), Ashleigh Wright (IDEA Institute), Saadeddine Shehab (Siebel Center for Design), Wayne Chang (Aerospace Engineering), Blake Johnson (Mechanical Science and Engineering), Ramez Hajj (Civil and Environmental Engineering), Colleen King and Piper Pascarella (Journalism, College of Media).
