Description

For pediatric patients, the needle is often drilled through the bone below the knee or above the knee. The project is composed of two parts: (1) Have a sensing system so the needle will hit the bone in its trajectory. (2) Be able the measure the resistance or impedance so that when the needle passes through the cortex, it knows when it is in the bone marrow (not in the soft tissue). Students will need to understand how intraosseous needles work, which I can bring in the different devices available on the market to demonstrate. Expected deliverables: written report and video presentation .
