F. Nell Pounder, a Ph.D. candidate in Prof. Rohit Bhargava’s laboratory, has been recognized with several awards for her poster “Towards a Practical Clinical Approach to Automated Breast Histopathology”. This poster was featured in an a Society of Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) student session the at the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) conference in Reno, NV on Sept. 28th, 2008. She was selected for one of the four poster awards, and gave an oral presentation in a student award symposium at FACSS on Oct. 1st, 2008. She presented this poster at the Institute of Biological Engineering (IBE) Regional Student Conference on Oct. 18th, 2008 and won first prize in a session with twenty graduate student poster presentations. Ms. Pounder was also a student award finalist at the Sociey of Engineering Science (SES) conference hosted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her abstract “Towards Automated Breast Histopathology with Mid-IR Spectroscopic Imaging” was one of sixteen abstracts selected from a pool of 160 student abstracts. Her presentation was featured in a SES student award finalist symposium on Oct. 13th, 2008.
