Entering with a bachelor's degree
(96 total credit hours)

  • Complete the core curriculum - 21 credit hours
  • 400/500 electives - 20 credit hours
  • BIOE 599 (research credit) - 55 credit hours
  • Pass exams (qualifying, preliminary, final)
  • Complete dissertation with committee approval

Entering with a master's degree
(64 total credit hours)

  • BIOE 500, 501, 502 are strongly encouraged
  • 400/500 electives - 12 credit hours
    • 8 of these credit hours must be BIOE 504 and 505
  • BIOE 599 (research credit) - 52 credit hours
  • Pass exams (qualifying, preliminary, final)
  • Complete dissertation with committee approval

M.S. in Bioengineering

  • Complete the core curriculum - 21 credit hours
  • 400/500 electives - additional 7 credit hours
  • BIOE 599 Research - 4 credit hours
  • Complete M.S. thesis with advisor approval
  • Total of 32 credit hours
